Welcome to IB DP English B at the Art School of Gerakas. This course is designed for students who are learning English as an additional language and want to use it with confidence, accuracy and imagination. Over two years we will explore the five prescribed themes of the programme — Identities, Experiences, Human Ingenuity, Social Organization and Sharing the Planet — through a wide range of written, audio and visual texts. You will develop your receptive, productive and interactive skills, learn to write in different text types for different audiences and purposes, and practise expressing and supporting your own ideas in discussion. Higher Level students will also study two literary works originally written in English, which form the basis of the individual oral assessment. Along the way we will reflect on how language shapes the way we see ourselves and other cultures. In this e-class you will find course materials, assignments, announcements and resources to support your preparation for the internal and external assessments. I look forward to working with you.
