 BREAD and ROSES

This series of units gives students the opportunity to reflect on what they already know about poverty and asks them to think about other people's attitude about poverty.This may affirm students' thinking and present additional ideas or challenge assumptions they may have made.Furthermore, it aims to help students understand that poverty is systemic, rooted in economics, politics and discrimination. It encourages students to think broadly about poverty and recognize the grim reality as well as the common experiences all humans share.It also introduces the idea that life amidst poverty is not fixed and that there is possibility for positive change. In order to conduct this lesson we will combine game techniques and reading material.
