Πρόσφατα επιβεβαιώθηκε επίσημα, ότι δεν υπάρχουν άστεγες γάτες και σκύλοι στην Ολλανδία. Η κυβέρνηση κατάφερε να το κάνει αυτό χωρίς να προκαλέσει οποιαδήποτε ζημιά σε ζώα. Σε μια προσπάθεια να διασφαλίσουν τα δικαιώματα των σκύλων, οι αρχές επέβαλαν πολύ αυστηρούς νόμους για την κακοποίηση των ζώων.
